B&W Winter Look by A

Hi everyone!

It's the holidays! Is everyone having a fantastic time? I'm enjoying my cozy bed and warm green tea this winter holidays. It also snowed last night in Coventry! What a coincidence, because today's look has to do with the colours of snow and the shade of the dark night sky.

There are so many ways to go monochrome, an endless amount of outfit combinations you can do! We might do B&W monochrome posts with different concepts in the future! For now we'll show you our winter edition.

For this photoshoot, we only had the choices of black and white pieces. As I had more white in my closet than black, I eventually decided to pick a cropped cable knit sweater from H&M as my white piece. I've always loved white pieces, mainly because of its minimalistic nature. I definitely could wear this sweater every day in winter. It's thick and in colder days, wearing an inner underneath and a warm coat as an outer, would be enough for me to brave those chilly winter days.

A cropped sweater was my first choice for this winter look because to me, it gives an illusion of a taller figure.  I also added this Stella Necklace by Enya Bijoux (Instagram @enyabijoux) which has this beautiful quartz crystal in the middle of a gold plated frame. I felt that adding a hint of sparkle would add more magic to my outfit.

As for bottoms, I chose a wet look skirt from ASOS and some cotton tights. Since the sweater was regular fitted, this skirt would add more volume to my outfit. It's shiny wet look adds a nice texture and contrast to all three pieces.

I completed the bottom part of my outfit with a pair of cotton leggings for warmth. I find it best to also wear high knee socks either underneath or over my leggings to prevent me from getting too cold.

As for shoes, I went for my pair of black Timberlands. You've seen this in our Denim post! The leather prevents my feet from getting wet, blocks wind and the bit of heel gives me an extra height. Like I previously said, these boots are fantastic all year round! It's also suited for this look.

I finished my whole look with my trusty cat ear bowler hat from ASOS. Bowler hats are a must have accessory, they are classic and romantic. I recommend everyone to own one! It is light and does not suffocate your head. You can wear them indoors and outdoors. I usually take them off when I'm inside though.

That completes my whole B&W winter look. I hope you enjoyed this post! All the photos were taken by Haziq Ghafar. He also directed both of the Wearriors during this shoot. You can check him out on his blog, instagram, flickr and watch his past youtube videos! Thank you Haziq for the amazing photoshoot! He was a great sport for braving the cold with us and he gave amazing directions especially to a stiffy-do like me!

Happy holidays and I'll see you on our next post! Watch out for Wearrior M's B&W winter look next Saturday!

AINUL

STATUS: ACTIVE

Hello! Welcome to Wearrior Instinct. I'm Ainul! My style is described best as 'mix and match'. Fashion, to me, is a form of self expression. I dress for myself and I love exploring new and different ways to do it. I believe strongly that we all have the potential to be the best we can be; all we have to do is to follow our (Wearrior) Instinct.

MYUIZZU

STATUS: PAUSE

Hey! I'm Mu'izz. I'm currently taking my masters degree in Political Science at UCL. I would probably say that my fashion style is best described as "Good-boy Oxford look" and I love colours. Although, I am preppy for most of the time, I do also like to mix elements from other fashion style. Right now, I am exploring more of the urban style. For me, Fashion is a platform that expresses and embraces one's individuality. Hopefully, it will inspire you to wear your (Wearrior) instinct! – I am on a research leave at the moment, I will be back soon!

ALIA

STATUS: ACTIVE

Hi! I’m Alia Alkaff, a 20-year-old Graphic Design undergraduate at Norwich University of the Arts. Black enthusiast and a lover of all things minimalistic, which also happens to best describe my style of Fashion. With being a part of Wearrior Instinct it has encouraged me greatly to be proud of what I wear and I hope we as a team will have that effect to bring out your inner Wearrior Instinct!

02FEZ

STATUS: HIATUS

My name is Faiz, but most people call me Fez. I studied at the the University of Leeds and graduated in 2015. I currently run a pop-up based coffee business called Aoyama Coffee. My interests in fashion lie more in on streetwear - and bridging the gap between it and menswear. I'm a fan of the little things in labels that set them apart from others, and my taste is a little unconventional, to say the least. I'm also really into raw denim. I should mention that I'm on hiatus at the moment - but I will be back!

AMSAIMZ

STATUS: ACTIVE

Oh hi there! I run a YouTube channel called AMSAIMA, where I create beauty and styling vlogs. I like to think of my fashion sense as multifaceted - I could dress to the nines with textured garments, look quirky while donning a pair of boyfriend jeans, or go for an alternative retro. Wearrior Instinct doesn’t just provide a space for me to document my looks and write about the pieces I’ve put together, but as I’m all about body positivity, I see this as an opportunity where confidence can be both built and encouraged. Lots of love, Amalsaima (or simply, Amal).
