Beauté Pratique

- September Skincare Review -

Hi everyone! Wearrior A here. Today I'll be sharing with you some skincare reviews consisting of products that I got from Brunei's online beauty store Beauté Pratique. Beauté Pratique is French for 'Beauty' and 'Practical'. The online store is based in Brunei and offers a variety of authentic beauty and skincare products from various overseas brands. Each in-stock product is carefully hand picked and tested out by the Beauté Pratique team themselves and if they don't have the product you're looking for in store, they also offer a service where you can request items personally. I came across Beauté Pratique on their Instagram account @beautepratique a few months ago and got super hyped because; 1. their aesthetics are on point (everything they post look so pretty!), 2. they stock up Korean skincare brands (ya'll know I'm an Korean skincare junkie) and 3. they offer affordable prices.

When I was studying overseas, I became obsessed with buying things online. I lived in Coventry from 2012 to 2015 and the city center offers a limited shopping experience, plus the gloomy weather screamed "stay in bed". Aside from saving myself the effort and transportation costs, online shopping was really the most convenient way to shop. Well established online stores offer great customer service and whenever a parcel comes in with my latest purchases, it feels as if I'm receiving a present. It wasn't that hard to find the things you want, all you had to do was find the right website, wait for a few days to a week and voila, the item is in your hands.

There aren't a lot of online shops in Brunei and especially ones for skincare. I have ultimately relied on my frequent trips to Malaysia or have Zhafir as my official courier to deliver my skincare needs. While there are tons of Instagram shops that offer a variety of products, I tend to hesitate to go for them mainly because of the prices. I'm not sure if its because I'm looking at the right places but most of the time, the prices of items are pretty hiked up and just weren't worth it. Fortunately, I need not look any further because I've finally found a trusted website that can deliver not only quality beauty items but also customer satisfaction.

- Beauté Pratique -

My online shopping experience with Beauté Pratique was on par with international sellers and is the main reason why it was easy for me to become a loyal customer. The website is clean, simplistic and straightforward. I had no issues with registering my account and ordering my items. Products are grouped according to appropriate categories and it was easy to find and compare multiple products. Most, if not all products have product descriptions and customers are also allowed to rate and leave reviews of products on the site. The payment process was very smooth and the step-to-step guide provided by Beauté Pratique was easy to follow. I got a confirmation e-mail straight after ordering and another one right after payment was made. A final e-mail update on shipping was also sent to me to notify me when my item was on its way and another to confirm that my order had been completed. The Beauté Pratique team responds to messages quickly and they are always professional when handling any queries or requests. I requested two items that were not originally on the website and got them at a reasonable price and received them within 7 working days. They now have an option for in-stock items to be shipped the next day and they also ship to all districts in Brunei. I ordered the Moonshot Blackpink cushion from Beauté Pratique recently and the courier called me before delivering the item (I'll do a first impression video on it as soon as the weather can provide me with good lighting hehe!). My orders always come in the signature Beauté Pratique pretty pastel packaging and everything is always wrapped up safely so that it arrives in mint condition.

A few months ago, I got extremely lucky because the Beauté Pratique team gifted me with a number of skincare and beauty products available in-stock on their website. They asked me about my skin type and concerns and curated a skincare package just for me. Its been over two months since I've been using these products and I'm ready to share with you what I think about them. Thank you Beauté Pratique for all your patience and generosity. Let's start reviewing!

- The Products -

These are the main products that they have suggested for me: The Dior Addict Lip Glow, The Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, Innsifree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay MaskCOSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser, COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask and the Banila Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm. Although not shown in the photo above, I'll also be reviewing the Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb (I got as a free sample from Beauté Pratique and the E Nature Squeeze Green Watery Gel Cream that I personally requested).

- Swatches -

Before I get into the details of each product, just to give you guys a bit of a feel of the product I'll show you guys some swatches and my impressions of them through the video above. You'll also be hearing about how to pronounce Beauté Pratique, I asked the team about this and they said you can pronounce it both the French way and the English way. I tried to do the French version but probably didn't do the language justice. Apologies for that huhu. Hope you like the video, continue down below for more in depth reviews.

Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm 001 Pink

This is probably the best MLBB (My Lips But Better) lip product I've used. Even before the Accutane, I've always suffered from chapped lips. I used the word 'suffer' because it really is something that brings me immense discomfort especially for those horrible days where I just forget to have lip balm on me. Cracked lips are just not fun. Even by drinking a lot of water, maybe even because of drinking water (because any liquid would wash away the lip balm on my lips) my lips would get dry and flaky easily. This is why it was difficult to find appropriate lip color that can nourish and hydrate as well as minimize the appearance of fine lines. The Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in 001 Pink or Original was a personal favorite of the Beauté Pratique team and is a popular lip product that even mentioned briefly in a Beauty Bible episode (20:45). After having a try, I truly understand why. This product is very gentle and smooth on the lips. In the video, I think I showed you guys that I swiped multiple of times during the application process, you really don't need a lot of the product for it to have the same effect. I've used this even without exfoliating, and it managed to glide on my lips smoothly, making my lips look supple and decreased the appearance of fine lines. The minty and sweet scent makes it even more pleasant to use. This product leaves a natural pink flush to my lips and just amps up my whole appearance even when I'm not using any makeup. The hydrating power is really good too and can last me for hours. The only fault I can point out is probably the price. It might be a bit too steep for some, however if I could and if I have the means to, I would buy this again or even try different shades. Since the formula is designed to complement your natural lip color, it really is a well-rounded and versatile product.

Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner 30 ml

The Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, just like its name it really does make my skin feel supple and helps prep my skin for the final steps in my skincare routine. The consistency is very watery, which makes it easy to spread however it does get a bit sticky or tacky towards the end of the application process. I prefer to spread it across smoothly with my hands then pat it dry. The after effect is really great, my skin feels instantly soft and fresh. I like to pair this with the Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb. One of my recent favorite YouTubers, Joan Keem mentioned this product in one of her recent vlogs (4:25) and she also said that this toner is moisturizing and would recommend this to her friends. If you are into the layering skincare method, this product is just for you. Personally, it took me quite a while to appreciate this product because it does take some time to pat it dry, versus the normal quick swipe with a cotton pad. However, because of its hydrating power I really think this is a fantastic toner. It also calms my skin down and is perfect skin type since its now leaning towards the dryer sensitive type.

Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb

Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb is by far the most moisturizing moisturizer I've ever tried (LOL to say it simply, it's pretty amazing). The only thing I didn't like about it is how it feels on the skin before it is fully absorbed. The texture is sort of like thick cream and although it feels super light on the skin after application, it doesn't glide as smoothly as per say gel moisturizers. I just have this personal preference to gel type moisturizers and how products spread on the face. Although it is heavy to touch, it doesn't feel heavy at all on the skin. The product description does mention that the formula is designed to 'burst' when applied to release a flood of moisture on the face and I do believe that's what I've been experiencing. The cream formula is quite thick at first, but it settles thinly, soothes and hydrates. It doesn't get sticky but maybe I'll choose the word 'tacky' to describe the texture before it is absorbed onto the skin. I just feel a light friction that makes it hard to swipe the product across the face at a fast pace. However, the after-effect is and I will stress this once again, is just amazing on the skin. It is suppose to provide up to 26 hours of moisture. I can't really say because I've never used this product for more than 8 hours straight without re-applying (because of prayers etc.). I have used this at night and was surprised by how supple my skin felt in the morning (that's 8 hours exposed to air-conditioning and tossing and turning about). I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a powerful moisturizer that doesn't leave a greasy finish. It finishes off pretty matte and feels great on the skin.

The Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask is actually a beautiful and versatile product. I find the color and texture so fascinating, which makes it a really fun product to use. It can be used  both as a day moisturizer as well as a night mask. It really just depends on how much product you are using. I would apply a thicker amount on my face at night as an overnight mask and a thinner amount to use during the day. When I first tried this, I really loved it. It feels soft, soothing and does hydrate my skin pretty well. It was only after 2 weeks into trying this out, I felt like it wasn't strong enough to hold the moisture on my face for a long time. I do believe it was mainly due to the condition of my skin. I am now into 10 months of Accutane and my skin has become dryer than before. This was confirmed by my observations, as my eczema has resurfaced during the time the product didn't satisfy my skin. However, I still enjoyed this as a day moisturizer. Because it's thin and has a matte finish, it works really well with my sunscreen. I'm using the Laneige All Day Anti Pollution Defensor and it is pretty greasy, much like most sunscreens (except for those that are water based I think, which I have yet to try!). This product didn't add to the greasiness and kept my skin pretty well hydrated in the morning. I asked a friend of mine who considered this product as her "holy grail" product and she told me that her skin type was combination oily. I would recommend this product to combination skin types, especially oily combination types. I would also recommend this to acne prone and oily skin types too.

I found out about this moisturizer from an episode of The Beauty Bible (4:10). The model Go Sohyun introduced this product as one of her "must have summer essentials" and even gifted this moisturizer to the hosts of The Beauty Bible. That comes to show that she really liked the product. The E Nature Squeeze Green Watery Gel Cream isn't a popular product in terms of exposure, not a lot of people have tried this and I found difficulty in finding relevant reviews on this product. Despite not knowing what to truly expect, I just felt like I had to give it a try and I'm glad that I did too. This moisturizer was the most refreshing moisturizer I've ever tried. It's texture is very gel like and it melts onto the skin as if its water. Unlike water though, the product gets absorbed instantly into the skin. It literally feels as if you're giving your skin a drink. Despite having oil capsules in the product, it doesn't feel at all oily. It smells amazing too, and is extremely light. The only disadvantage is that it isn't powerful enough for me at night. Unlike the Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb, it doesn't make my skin extra supple. It also doesn't solve the problem of dry patches that I have. So, I would avoid using this before makeup and choose something stronger instead to prep my skin before any makeup. I still do enjoy this product and would use this as a morning moisturizer rather than a night moisturizer. Similar to the COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask, I would recommend this to those who have an oily skin type or combination oily. I do have a soft spot for this product and would love to repurchase because it just feels really good. I don't know how to explain it, but maybe its because of the texture and the fresh sensation it gives that just turns me on haha.

If you are a skincare junkie, you would either have this or have come across this. The Banila Co. Clean It Zero is considered as a cult beauty product and there are a lot of reviews on this online. I talked about the benefits of double cleansing and using oil cleansers in my previous post, Life With Acne and the oil cleanser that I introduced to you all was the Laneige Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil. I'm really thankful Beauté Pratique gifted this to me because I've been really curious about this product for a while now and it was due time that I got a new oil cleanser. The major difference between this and the liquid oil cleanser is obviously the fact that this product takes a solid form before application. Once you spread and massage the product onto your skin, this product melts into a silky oil texture. Just like liquid oil cleansers, it dissolves all the makeup and impurities and by using lukewarm water you can remove all that and end up with a makeup-free face. I use this to remove any traces of my sunscreen as well whenever I'm not wearing any makeup. This works perfectly on my skin. Most if not all the time, it removes all my makeup and leaves my skin feeling soft right after. It is gentle, smells freaking amazing and is an overall high quality product. The only down side was that it took a bit of time for me to figure out how much product I should be using. Usually for liquid oil cleansers, the "suggested amount" can be measured by the amount you get once you pump the dispenser. However, to use a balm cleanser you just have to guess and estimate a suitable amount that your skin really needs. You'll probably find out the ideal amount of product to use eventually but it takes a bit of practice. The positive side about this being a solid is the fact that it is super travel friendly. You can easily keep this in those tiny travel containers and keep this handy in your makeup bag without worrying about any spillage. Super handy for when you need to remove your makeup before prayers for example. Since it doesn't require any tissues or facial cotton pads, it saves you money, space and reduces waste.

COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

When people ask me about what cleansers they should look out for when it comes to acne prone skin, I would usually suggest them to find something that is gentle. In my own experience, adding more chemicals onto the skin is just not the best solution. Since I was already using acne spot treatments to combat breakouts, my skin sensitivity heightened and became even more susceptible to drying out. The cleanser I talked about in my previous post, 'Life With Acne' was the Murad Soothing Gel Cleanser and I mentioned that it was a calming and simple product. I was running out of it and decided to check out cleansers from the Korean brand, COSRX. I watched some YouTube videos about COSRX cleansers and found that a lot of people liked the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. I read quite a bit of reviews on this, and most of them were pretty positive. The COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser, just like its name suggests, is mildly acidic and matches similarly to the skin's natural pH. There is a lot of debate on whether or not a cleanser's pH level is important for combating acne. However, the main purpose for the low pH of this cleanser was to support a healthy micro-environment for the skin since acne prone skin is pretty high up in the pH scale. The COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser was actually the first product that I ordered from Beauté Pratique and coincidentally, the team actually wanted to suggest this product for me after reading my blog post. I described the feel of this product in the video, and overall I just felt like it was also a very simple product. It cleanses my skin well and doesn't irritate my skin at all. It also doesn't strip off the moisture from my skin and after 2 weeks of using this product, I realized that my skin texture had improved. My skin texture felt much more even and somehow smoother. I know that most of my acne problems are kind of taken care of by my Accutane pills, however as compared to the Murad Soothing Gel Cleanser, my skin loved the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser more. One time I didn't put on any moisturizer since I was rushing to pray and even after finishing prayers, my skin didn't feel uncomfortably tight after using this cleanser. That really says something. Another reason why I love this cleanser is because of the price. It is considered a steal if you compare this with the Murad Soothing Gel Cleanser. I'm still using this product and I think I'll be sticking with it because it is a quality product that delivers its purpose and is of great value even in terms of price. I would suggest this product to those who have sensitive or acne prone skin.

Innsifree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask [Brightening]

I've always been a fan of Innisfree products and because of Innisfree, I've become obsessed with clay masks. I was pretty stoked when Innisfree released this color clay mask line; the Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask. Mainly because it allows users to personalize their skin treatment by providing users a range of different clay masks to address the different skin concerns. There are 7 colors with 7 different functions: 1. Yellow for brightening, 2. Blue for hydrating, 3. Pink for vitalizing, 4. Green which for sebum control and cica care, 5. Purple for calming, 6. White for refining and 7. Black for Purifying. I got the yellow color clay mask which was designed for brightening thanks to Beauté Pratique. This clay mask contains the formula to control sebum and brighten the skin and consists of the Innisfree signature Jeju volcanic cluster and some Vitamin C derivatives. The consistency of this product, unlike most clay masks I've tried is much more watery. This is because it is water based. Because of its water gel clay texture, it can be spread thinly and rapidly on the skin. It dries out pretty fast and doesn't feel too tight or stiff. I could still eat and talk, while using this mask. So, not only are the masks multi-tasking, it also allows you to multi-task! Washing off this mask is my favorite part. I actually got the black one as well which is for purifying and although the website says that the transforming clay masks (black and white color clay masks) are the only ones that lather up upon contact with water, I do feel like the yellow one does something similar too. If you can see it in the video it washes off really well and although it isn't too obvious, it does foam up quite a bit. The washing off process is different from the other clay masks I've tried because it's extremely gentle. Usually, most clay masks have some sort of sandy texture after washing it off. This one doesn't at all. That's why I think those with sensitive skin types would really appreciate this. Although I've used this for more than 2 months, I am not too sure on whether or not it does lighten up my acne scars. However, I do understand that whitening or brightening the skin isn't something that can be scientifically done overnight. Especially not if you're doing it naturally. I still use this product even though the brightening effects aren't as obvious yet, because it is a fun mask to use and I can apply this on specific areas of my skin. At the end of the day, it makes my skin feel super fresh and clean. It is gentle and pretty affordable.

Now we've reached the end of my product reviews! I'd like to sincerely thank the Beauté Pratique for their generosity and patience. It took me so long to write this post and they've been nothing less but supportive this whole time. I wanted to show my gratitude by writing up an honest and quality blog post. I've been communicating with the Beauté Pratique team and have experienced buying and requesting things from their site. If there's one thing I can tell you about them, is that the Beauté Pratique team are undeniably passionate about the things they sell and that's what is truly special about Beauté Pratique and why I have my absolute trust in them. I know it's difficult to buy things online, especially for skincare because everyone and every skin is unique, so I decided to do things a bit differently this time by adding a video to show you guys some swatches and overall impressions before revealing my overall thoughts and conclusions of the products. I've used each and every one of these products for over 2 months and even though that can be considered as a short amount of time, I think its a fair amount of time to actually have a solid impression. If there are any changes in my thoughts, I'll give everyone an update in the future. Keep in mind that these reviews are strictly personal. You may not experience these products similarly to me. With that note, I advice everyone to do more research and check out other reviews as well before you purchase any products. I hope you found this post helpful and if you're interested in buying any of the products mentioned, you are entitled to a 10% off each product (excluding shipping fees) thanks to the Beauté Pratique team! Happy shopping and thanks for reading!

Hello! Welcome to Wearrior Instinct. I'm Ainul! My style is described best as 'mix and match'. Fashion, to me, is a form of self expression. I dress for myself and I love exploring new and different ways to do it. I believe strongly that we all have the potential to be the best we can be; all we have to do is to follow our (Wearrior) Instinct.

Hey! I'm Mu'izz. I'm currently taking my masters degree in Political Science at UCL. I would probably say that my fashion style is best described as "Good-boy Oxford look" and I love colours. Although, I am preppy for most of the time, I do also like to mix elements from other fashion style. Right now, I am exploring more of the urban style. For me, Fashion is a platform that expresses and embraces one's individuality. Hopefully, it will inspire you to wear your (Wearrior) instinct! – I am on a research leave at the moment, I will be back soon!

Hi! I’m Alia Alkaff, a 20-year-old Graphic Design undergraduate at Norwich University of the Arts. Black enthusiast and a lover of all things minimalistic, which also happens to best describe my style of Fashion. With being a part of Wearrior Instinct it has encouraged me greatly to be proud of what I wear and I hope we as a team will have that effect to bring out your inner Wearrior Instinct!

My name is Faiz, but most people call me Fez. I studied at the the University of Leeds and graduated in 2015. I currently run a pop-up based coffee business called Aoyama Coffee. My interests in fashion lie more in on streetwear - and bridging the gap between it and menswear. I'm a fan of the little things in labels that set them apart from others, and my taste is a little unconventional, to say the least. I'm also really into raw denim. I should mention that I'm on hiatus at the moment - but I will be back!

Oh hi there! I run a YouTube channel called AMSAIMA, where I create beauty and styling vlogs. I like to think of my fashion sense as multifaceted - I could dress to the nines with textured garments, look quirky while donning a pair of boyfriend jeans, or go for an alternative retro. Wearrior Instinct doesn’t just provide a space for me to document my looks and write about the pieces I’ve put together, but as I’m all about body positivity, I see this as an opportunity where confidence can be both built and encouraged. Lots of love, Amalsaima (or simply, Amal).
